Listen!

After I awoke, I noticed an odd magnification of sounds, so that even the slightest tinkling of the wind blowing my blinds around instilled in me a great pleasure to hear things. Every sound has a very tangible crispness. Spoken words have the freshness of somebody taking a bite out of a piece of celery, but they produce music, too, as if that person was also playing Mozart on a piano. I feel as if all my senses are dulled save my sense of hearing. Colors seem faded and uninteresting when looked at, but they would be beautiful and radiant if I could only hear them. Sometimes I think I can.
